How I work

All counselling is confidential: there is never any contact to family members and anything you say will strictly remain within the room provided there is no risk of harm to self or others. I engage in regular supervision to ensure continuation of best practice.


Most counselling sessions are weekly and last for 50 minutes. It is natural to feel fear, anticipation, doubt and excitement prior to a counselling session – understanding these emotions forms an important part of the work and can open windows. Throughout the session I will offer space to explore involving discussion or sharing, role-play, acting, cushion throwing, art or music, offering links between past and present for deeper understanding. If requested, I can also use hypnotic practices to help relax and find the inner self. Since each person is different there is never a set amount of counselling sessions.
