Supervision

Supervision allows a safe, confidential space to explore your work, feelings and approach towards your clients. Sometimes this means allowing space to think of clients, dilemmas and offload any difficult or painful issues, yet at others it can mean thinking about you, and explore any difficulties you may be encountering. Sometimes difficulties can arise from the place where we are working and supervision provides a safe and confidential place to explore how to proceed through these challenges.

Supervision provides a means to expand ideas and discuss a variety of different avenues and possibilities towards your work. Whilst some avenues may lead to dead ends, others may reveal possibilities and insights that would otherwise not be considered. These thoughts in turn help deepen the work, intensifying opportunity and purpose.

Supervision can also allow space to explore the relationship between yourself and your client. What is going on beneath the surface? How do you feel when you hear stories which are harder to hear? What do you notice when with one client you find easier to maintain eye contact than with another? Do you feel more drained after one client than with another, and what is happening to you? Such questions are not intended to be judgemental, but more an opening of exploration which in turn can reveal different clues to unconscious processes, challenges and insights where the relationship becomes the centre piece on a journey of discovery.
